Rotary Club of Melville DECEMBER 2023 NESLETTER

I hope that all of you have had a great Christmas and are girding yourselves for the onset of 2024.  Whatever you’re doing, just enjoy the moment and the great weather we’re having.  But do take time for a bit of reflection.

Many of you will be framing new years’ resolutions, that will probably be broken with the rapidity with which they were made.  Resolutions made within a context of a higher purpose have a better chance of successful outcomes.  Before the accusations of too much festive cheer arrive, let me explain.  To resolve is to take a specific, measurable action.  Purpose sets the direction for that action.  Establishing the link between purpose and its supporting action is required.  And that’s where the critical thinking comes it and where taking time for reflection for that critical thinking, is important.

May I suggest that each of you reach out to your higher purposes and make one actionable resolution for 2024?  That will give you hope to achieve something, however modest or grand that achievement is.  With any luck, it maybe something that gives hope to others, does good and creates for you a moment that you can cherish. Use our 4 Way Test of Rotary and that for you, should make it easy.  Using this simple yet flexible guide will get you off to a good start.

Hopefully, I’ll see you all sooner rather than later. In the interim, Margarita and I wish you all the best for 2024.  We hope it provides you all with a moment you can cherish.  Keep providing hope and doing good.

Stay well and safe.  Cheerio
