Rotary Club of Melville
Welcome to this months Newsletter
It’s two months into the current Rotary Year, and as this year unfolds, one thing stands out to me is the contribution of each our members, as we do good in our community.  Whether it be attending to our markets, contributing to District, organising meetings, or setting up and participating events, I’m appreciative of your efforts.
Congratulations to the three RYPEN students, Ellie Vrankvich, Angus Hollaway and Jessica Bates who completed the leadership camp last may. This is what Ellie had to say about the camp.
"Rypen taught me that when pushing my boundaries I not only have the ability to make friends, but I’m a leader. I’m a communicator. I am capable of so much.
So to close, thank you to rotary for providing me with this opportunity and thank you to rypen for teaching me so much about myself, about others and many important lessons that I will carry with me for years to come. I’m waiting eagerly until I turn 18 to participate in Ryla."
Rotary recognises others in our community.

Individually and collectively, we’re creating stories, stories that need telling.  Even at our last meeting we heard four incredible, unscripted interesting stories from our members.  The unforeseen absence of our guest speaker created an opportunity for us to increase the membership experience among ourselves.  That, members, is the essence of Rotary.  We get to know each other by understanding.  We’ve been seen in public with the awarding our community members in public in front of local politicians and leaders – doing good and telling our story.  Our Assistant Governor remarked to me that he enjoys his visits to our club because we understand the purpose of Rotary and we do a good job in practising the principles of Rotary.  There is a plan and slowly but surely elements of that plan are being delivered.  Kudos to all involved.

As we go forward, there is a lot happening, but that material is elsewhere in this bulletin.  I do need to flag that technology remains an area where there are things in train to make your membership experience a more efficient one.  However, the learning experience will be followed by collegiality afterwards.  So, stay tuned.  Take the opportunity over the next month where we’ll be able to get together and just get to know each other that little bit better.  Reach out to the membership who can’t make our meetings and let them know that September is geared towards them.
I am very grateful for your efforts; you are creating the stories of each of you doing good to each of your communities.  To those who are travelling – enjoy and we look forward to hearing your experiences.  To those on the mend – please recover and to those who are well reach out to those members and their families.  Above all, stay well mentally, look out for each other but as always have fun.
