President’s Report
Welcome to our two new members, Javier Badell and Juan Salmon, who are owners of the Pantano Bar and Restaurant. We also have four prospective members who are keen to join the club in the near future.
During the month of May, we had some excellent guest speakers. The first one was Geoff Sander from the Mandurah Muscateers who enlightened us about how they recycle old computers and offer them at a very low cost to needy people and/or organizations. The other guest speaker was Dr Jarrad Hall MD PhD on the topic of Water for Life, antimicrobial susceptibility and the affect on people’s health. This was held at a Chamber of Commerce meeting, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Melville.
As this Rotary year draws to a close, most committee projects and programmes have been completed. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members of the Board, and all members of each of the Committees who have worked so hard throughout the 2024-25 Rotary year. to keep this club living up to its reputation of friendship and service.
It is also a time to look back at our activities and achievements and compile them into an Annual report in July, which will distributed to all members.
The programme of speakers for the Monday meetings in June 2025 are as follows, and we hope to see as many as possible to hear the guest speakers.
• Monday 9th June, 2025: Sandyha Sringar Arpana Group Charitable Organisation.
• Monday 23rd June, 2025: Thumbnails by our newest members Javier Badell and Juan Salmon.
In Preparation for the new Rotary year, the Committee Chairs on the Board will once again be in the process of looking at how they are going to form their budgets for the 2025-26 Rotary year. Again I have asked that each project is to identify how it meets the Rotary Club of Melville Four Strategic Goals, Making an Impact, Expanding our Reach, Enhancing Membership and Participation and Increasing our Adaptability. These proposed budgets will be presented to club members at a club Assembly on Monday 28th July, 2025.
In addition, the first social event for the new Rotary year is dinner at the Pantano Bar, owned by Javier and Juan (see advertisement). This is also a Vocational visit. A table for twenty members has already been booked, so its best you get your name in early. RSVP’s to me by Monday 14th July, 2025

Date of Market for donation to the NSW funds
Thank you to everyone who responded, and so promptly. I’ve been in discussion with Kareena and we have set Sunday 29th June as the date for the proceeds of the market to go to the NSW floods as the long range forecast is for sunny weather that day.
However if anyone hasn’t responded yet and has a concern please let me know. Otherwise it’s all set.
We will get advertising done through the radio station as previously, and we will need to let anyone else know, who needs to know, such as club members.
