RYLA PARTICIPANT
I wanted to email to express a huge thank you for sponsoring me for the recent RYLA Camp.
My name is Pia Finn and I was recommended to go on RYLA 2025 camp by my mentor Matthew Pham. Since RYLA is a leadership building camp, I was unsure whether I should sign up because I felt I already had satisfactory leadership skills (e.g. running beach clean ups, lots of public speaking, being part of university clubs). Having never heard of this camp before, I trusted his advice and saw it as an opportunity.
My expectations were high for this camp, that I would learn a lot, meet lots of people, and do fun team activities. Wow, my expectations were well surpassed! I made the most meaningful friendships, had more fun and laughter than I can remember for a while, and learnt lots of genuinely valuable leadership skills that I will actively take on in my career and work.
I wanted to say thank you so incredibly much for sponsoring me and making this experience possible. It has been one of the most impactful weeks of my life and something I will never forget.
Once again, I really value your support and want you to know that your decision to sponsor me has been sincerely appreciated.
Kind regards,
Pia Finn
BIKERS AGAINST CHILD ABUSE - KAREENA BALLARD
Melville Rotarians first meeting meeting of the year were BACA a very empowering discussion. Dressed in black, tattoos, chains and as a gang they shared how they work with Police and Community organisations where they support children who are being abused. Innovative idea and wroking well, standing at the ready to bring children in to their protective circle, shielding them from abuse and lending physical and emotional support . Powerful message - we were all amazed at their work. Had to try out the fancy bike though!
