First of all, I would like to welcome back Rotarians who have been travelling, and have returned safe and sound, despite some frightening health scares while overseas.
Secondly I would like to congratulate Mohammad Aleia, his wife Maryam and his family on receiving their Australian citizenship. Mohammad has been a member of our club since 2017, and although he hasn’t been able to attend our regular Wednesday meetings due to establishing his business, he has given up his spare time to be on roster at the Melville markets, and has attended some of our social events. Once again congratulations on now officially becoming “Aussies”.
Each month, when it comes time for the President’s report for the newsletter, I reflect on the month just gone, and the events the Rotary Club of Melville is involved in, and each month is almost always busier than the last, and November has been no exception.

Phil Draber, Politician & Bruce Ivers
The first of these event was our regular Club meeting on Wednesday 12th November, 2025, where we hosted a large number of dignitaries from several organisations involved in protecting our landscape, as well as local politicians, as we heard from Nikita Fredonnet and Bruce Ivers regarding their ongoing work on tree planting and restoration. Our club is financially supporting Nikita with her studies into soils
On Sunday 23rd November, several Rotarians assisted the Rotary Club of Applecross at the Jacaranda Festival in Applecross.
At the same time, due to our association with the South of Perth Yacht Club, the Rotary Club of Melville sponsored the Goolugatup Cup, which ran from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. Due to the work of Phillip Draber, Rotary had a strong presence at the Yacht Club over the weekend with Rotary stickers on all paperwork and boats as well as a speech given by Phillip during presentations.

On Wednesday 26th November, 2025, at our regular meeting, we heard of the work of St Pts Fremantle, through the guest speaker, Annalise Oxenbrough, the manager of St Pats, Fremantle. Philanthropy and fund Raiser.

Thursday 4th December, 2025: A stall promoting the Rotary Club of Melville through a raffle at Bunnings Melville.

Wednesday 10th December, 2025: AGM of the RC of Melville. At this meeting, we nominate and elect the President, President Elect, Treasurer and Secretary for the Rotary year 2026-27. If you are interested in putting your name forward for any of these positions, please contact President Elect Dale Cole prior to the AGM, or you can be nominated from the floor during the meeting.

As the month of December gets underway with all of its festivities in the lead up to Christmas, I would like to wish all Rotarians and their families a very safe month and also a wonderful Christmas and New Year with family and friends.
