Planting Trees for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Invitation to unveiling ceremony and morning tea Saturday 26th November.
 
The Rotary Club of Melville (RCM) successfully applied for a $20,000 grant in the electorate of Tangney to establish 1,500 Banksia seedlings in Point Walter Reserve, Bicton.  The project is supported the City of Melville, the Bicton Environmental Action Group and local schools. It is funded through the Australian Government Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment, and Water. Every federal electorate in Australia received $100,000 to allocate to projects for planting trees to celebrate the Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th Jubilee. 
 
On Saturday 26th November 2022, RCM will host a ceremony to unveil a sign to commemorate planting 1,500 Banksia seedlings, this event must be held in 2022 to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee. The seedlings will be planted at the optimum time in May/June 2023 to give them the best chance of survival. 
 
The unveiling ceremony will commence at 9:45 am adjacent to 2 Blackwall Reach Pde, Bicton.
 
Following the unveiling of the sign, at 11:00am morning tea will be provided by the Rotary Club of Melville at the Bicton Baths, Blackwall Reach Pde, Bicton.
